  The border, in practical terms

  Great Britain sits outside the EU customs union, so a shipment from Portugal is an import: it needs a customs declaration, an EORI number on the buyer's side, and import VAT accounted for on entry. None of that is unusual and none of it is slow, but it does need the paperwork to be right first time. We issue the commercial invoice, packing list and statement of origin with the consignment, crated, either through our nominated forwarders or yours. Rates, deferment and duty treatment sit with your own broker; we supply the documents they ask for, not the advice.

  BS 5852, matched to the fabric you chose

  UK contract specifications generally call for BS 5852 ignitability performance on upholstered seating. Because the upholstery is done in-house rather than bought in finished, compliance is matched to the actual fabric on your order and documented for the project file. CMHR fire-retardant foam is standard across the range, and customer's own material is accepted where a scheme has already specified a fabric house.

  Why UK trade buyers come direct

  The alternative is a UK wholesaler who imported a container of one fabric last season. Buying from the factory means the specification is still open when you order: wood or powder-coated steel, more than 120 colours across six contract fabric families, per-part fabric selection, and no minimum order, so a single independent buys on the same terms as a multi-site group. Do you ship to the UK, and who handles customs?

Yes, crated, through our nominated forwarders or yours. We supply the commercial invoice, packing list and origin declaration; your broker or forwarder makes the entry and accounts for import VAT.

Can you supply BS 5852 documentation?

Yes, on request, matched to the fabric specified on the order. CMHR foam is standard, and EN 1021 or CAL 117 can be documented instead where a project calls for them.

Is there a UK minimum order or a UK price list?

No minimum order. Pricing is the trade price list issued against your account, quoted ex-works with freight shown separately so you can compare it against your own forwarder.
